~ The Cricket World Cup was first held in 1975 in England. It was a 60-over-per-side tournament played during the day. The first three tournaments were sponsored by Prudential, hence the name “Prudential World Cups.”

~ West Indies won the first two tournaments, and India made a history in the 1983 final to become champions against the previous winner.

~ The first World Cup outside England was held in 1987 in India and Pakistan. Australia won the tournament, and the number of overs per innings was reduced to 50.

~ The 1992 World Cup was the first to feature coloured clothing, white balls, day-night matches, and revised fielding restrictions. Pakistan won the tournament, and South Africa returned to the World Cup after the end of the international sports boycott.

~ Sri Lanka won their first World Cup in 1996, defeating Australia in the final.

~ Australia won the next three World Cups, becoming the most successful team in the tournament’s history.

~ India won their second World Cup in 2011, defeating Sri Lanka in the final.

~ The 2015 ICC cricket world cup  was the 11th cricket world cup and was won Australia defeating new Zealand by 7 wickets in the final.

~England won their first World Cup in 2019, defeating New Zealand in a thrilling final that went to a Super Over.
